New Years Resolutions.

Pool Noodles?

Yes! Believe it or not I have purchased some pool noodles to aid us in training at the club, if you are familiar with boxing training you will know what they are used for, but for those that don’t, they are really good for improving head movement and reflex development of flinch reactions to slip incoming punches without the force of a someone actually throwing punches at you, I will be looking at bringing this into the sparring time of our warm up.

Tuesdays Lesson (02/01/18).

It has been pointed out to me that starting so soon after the new years celebrations may be an issue for some people, especially those who may be going out partying and may still be hung over (me included), but I’m happy to run the class if we have enough interest, if not we will postpone til the 9th. Please mark yourself as going in the student group on facebook if you will definitely be in attendance.

The lesson will be Reflex Development for lesson 2:

First half we will improve our KICK DEFENCES, combining them with the PUNCH DEFENCES with a bit more head movement and footwork, similar to sparring but slightly slower and more controlled to get the technique right.
.
Second Half we will be combining all 3 variations of the TRAP AND ROLL ESCAPE with both variations of the AMERICANA ARMLOCK.

KICK DEFENCES

Slice 1: Front Kicks
Slice 2: Push Kicks
Slice 3: Round Kicks
Slice 4: Side Kicks
Slice 5: Back Kicks

Slice 1: Straight Punches
Slice 2: Hook Punches
Slice 3: Uppercuts
Slice 4: Haymakers

Friday’s Lesson (05/01/18).

This coming Friday lesson, for students who are up to date, we are having a special lesson to run through the Combat Simulation sets for as many lessons as we can get through.
For the first half, Starting with PADWORK SESSION 1 , 2, 3 and 4: PADWORK SESSION 2 combines PUNCH COMBOS and KICK COMBOS anyway, and PALM/BARE KNUCKLE COMBOS tie in nicely with ELBOWS AND KNEES so we will work these in 2 different sets, improving our speed, power, head movement and footwork.
For the second half we will be running through the Combat Simulation sets for each lesson, shown below:

MAINTAINING THE MOUNT

TRAP AND ROLL ESCAPE Headlock Variation
MAINTAINING THE MOUNT Low Swim
AMERICANA ARMLOCK Neckhug Variation

TAKE THE BACK

TRAP AND ROLL ESCAPE Punch Block Variation
MAINTAINING SIDE MOUNT High Swim
TAKE THE BACK remount technique
AMERICANA ARMLOCK Standard Variation

REAR NAKED CHOKE

TRAP AND ROLL ESCAPE Standard Variation
MAINTAINING THE MOUNT High Swim
TAKE THE BACK
REAR NAKED CHOKE Weak Side Variation

CLINCH (AGGRESSIVE)

CLINCH Aggressive Opponent
LEGHOOK TAKEDOWN
TAKE THE BACK
REAR NAKED CHOKE Strong Side Variation
Remount Technique
AMERICANA ARMLOCK Neckhug Variation

LEGHOOK TAKE DOWN

CLINCH Aggressive Opponent
LEGHOOK TAKEDOWN
MAINTAINING THE MOUNT Low Swim
AMERICANA ARMLOCK Standard Variation
TAKE THE  BACK
REAR NAKED CHOKE Weak Side Variation

That should be more than enough for one lesson, but if we get time I have the Combat Simulation sets for all lessons, so we won’t run out.
As the lessons go on, each set includes slightly more lessons and different combinations of slices, making them more challenging.
Students who aren’t up to date with the syllabus will be able to catch up on some of the things they need to learn for grading and will do these Combat Simulation sets at a later date.
